He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lumberton and a former City Councilman. He was happily married for over sixty-five years to Esther Lee Gore. He was a country boy at heart, enjoyed farming and was a faithful friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Lee Gore and his son, Glenn Alva Gore.
Mr. Gore is survived by two sons, Hubert Gearl Gore and wife, Linda of Jupiter, FL and John Larry Gore of White Lake, NC and special friend, Cheryl Culbreth of North Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter, Leisa Marie Dowless of Elizabethtown, NC; thirteen grandchildren, Bob Weible, Richard Gore, Anne Noel Davis, Esther Joy Gore, Hannah Grace Gore, Glenn Gabriel Gore, Israel Gore, Julia Singer Gore, Rachel Leigh Gore, John Rogers Gore, Aaron Howd, Austin Howd and Luke Dowless and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Davis and Anastasia Rose Weible.
A Graveside Entombment will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00AM at Gardens of Faith Mausoleum in Lumberton with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 938, Lumberton, NC 28359.
