"We are pained to announce the death of Edna Adams, nine year old daughter of W.R. and Jennie Adams, Thursday morning December 5. So far as we can learn she had been sick but a few days. She died from diphtheria. Mr. Adams and his family have the sympathy of their many friends."
An outbreak of diphtheria occurred in Larned in the fall/winter of 1889. Approximately twelve or so died.
