Mrs. Fred L. Fritz of W. Main St. is in Topeka, Kansas, where she was called two weeks ago by the serious illness and death of her mother, Mrs. J.W. Buffum. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 9, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.S. Lee, 1312 Byron Avenue. The services were in charge of Rev. Marvin Culpepper of Olathe, Kansas, former pastor of the Euclid Avenue M.E. Church. He was assisted by Rev. L.F. Pulliam, present pastor. The W.R.C. also assisted in the services. Burial took place in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Buffum was an old resident of Kansas, coming to the state in 1870, and settling in Ft. Scott. Later she moved to Salina and Manhattan, but for the past 10 years had made her home in Topeka. She was an active member of the Euclid Avenue M.E. Church during her residence in Topeka. Her husband and six children, five of whom were present at the funeral - survive her.
