Elva Douglas Boseman, 94, of Darlington, wife of the late Woodrow Boseman, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 21, 2011.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 3 PM in Swift Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Reverend David Deming and Reverend Horace Jackson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home of Darlington. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 PM on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the church.

Mrs. Boseman was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late William Angus and Mary Catherine Sowell Douglas. Mrs. Elva loved caring for others as she worked as a nurse for McLeod Regional Medical Center and later for Greenland Park retiring after 21 years of dedicated service, after her retirement she went back to work for another 2 years. She was a lifelong member of Swift Creek Baptist Church where she was in the Helen Lee Sunday School Class, served in many different capacities, and helped with the mission group "Girls in Action." Mrs. Elva was also instrumental in helping with getting Vacation Bible School started at Swift Creek sister church, Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a faithful member of the Woman's Missionary Union. She loved children and the children she taught in Sunday School Class known affectionately as "Her Boys." Mrs. Elva and her husband Mr. Woodrow creed in life was Psalms 37:25 "I have been young, now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold and will be missed dearly.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty Herring of Darlington; her nieces and nephews, Betty Ann Starnes of Kingsport, Tenn.; Sam Dawkins of Morven, NC; Barbara Short of Morven, NC; Harriet Wheeler of Southport, NC; Betsy Rupert of Lynchburg, Va.; Williams Douglas, Jr. of Cherry Grove Beach, SC; Bobbie Benfield of Salisbury, NC; Helen Smith of Ruby, SC; Michael Boseman of San Antonio, Texas; Douglas Boseman of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Jerry Douglas of Chesterfield, SC.

Mrs. Boseman was preceded in death by her siblings, Elizabeth Milligan of Charleston, SC; Kathleen Dawkins of Morven, NC; Hafner Douglas of Salisbury, NC; Laborde Douglas of Chesterfield, SC; and Margaret Boseman of Charleston, SC.
