BLANTON, GAILYA (GAY) FARELL Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, November 9, 2003. Preceded in death by her father Charlie, and her brother Charles Lee; survived by her husband Charles, son Dan, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Michael Burks, granddaughter Ruby Gail, mother Uralee Farell, brother Dan Farell and family, sister-in-law SuLaine Dekkers and family along with many loving Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
Surrounded by her family, she succumbed following a short battle with cancer. She was born April 12, 1939 in Fairlie, Texas. Graduate of Commerce High School and East Texas State College in 1960. She was a realtor for over 25 years. Prior to that she taught third grade in the Richardson school system. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at the age of nine. A member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, she was active for many years as a teacher of children, youth, and adults. Most recently she taught in The Friendship class.
Loving, kind, gentle, serving, and sweet, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, at First Baptist Church in Dallas, with burial at 2 p.m. in Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 11 at Sparkman Crane at 10501 Garland Rd. in Dallas.

Miss Gailya Farell became the bride of Charles Wesley Blanton on Friday evening. June 23, at the First Baptist Church in Fairlie. The Rev. Gordon Nelson of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Winnsboro. and the Rev. Richard Norton, director of the Baptist Student Union at East Texas State College, officiated.
The couple pledged their vows before a background of white gladioli and greenery, with wrought iron candelabra holding white tapers at either side.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Farell of Fairlie. She is a graduate to Commerce High School and ETSC, where she was a member of Cap and Gown, Alpha Chi,Kapoa Delta Pi, and Alpha Lambda Delta.
The bridegroom is also a graduate of Commerce High School and ETSC, where he was a member of the Lion football squad, "T" Association, and Ogima Social Club He is a former student at the University of Houston. He is the son of Mrs. J. O. Blanton of Greenville and the late Mr. Blanton.
Mr Farell gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Barbara Sims played traditional wedding music and accompanied Nathan McAlister, who sang "O Perfect Love." "Because," and "The Lord's Prayer."
The bride chose a waltz-length dress of white embroidered silk organza. It was designed with basque bodice,elbow length sleeves and sabrina neckline Her elbow-length veil of illusion was held by a cap of matching silk organza She carried a white glamellia with cascade of feathered carnations and shower streamers on a white Bible, a gift from, the bridegroom.
For something old, she carried a white linen handkerchief edged in lace, a gift to her grandmother, Mrs. J. P. Barker, from her grandfather on their wedding day. Miss Nell Walls of Dallas, the bride's cousin, was maid of honor. Mrs Helen Bennington of Lubbock and Miss SuLam Blanton of Greenville, the bridegroom's sister, were bridesmaids. Their dresses of mint green cotton satin were designed with scoop necklines and full gathered skirts. Each wore a necklace with a single pearl, their gifts from the bride. Their flowers were nosegays of mums and carnations,and their costumes were accented with white accessories.
Jerry Hendrix was best man. Groomsmen were Charles Lee Farell of Dallas, brother of the bride, and Neal Stewart Charles Brown and David Williams seated the guests, Flower Girl Donna Gay Barker of Fairley, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Charles Dolph of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, nephew of the bridegroom, served as ring bearer. Candles were lighted by Danny Farell of Fairlie, brother of the bride, and Harold Dolph of Pompton Plains, the bridegroom's nephew.
The reception following the wedding was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ellis in Fairlie. The bride's table was laid with a white lace cloth over mint green. The centerpiece was white daisies arranged in a crystal container surrounded by greenery.
The three-tiered wedding cake toped with a miniature bride and groom was served by Miss Mary Lou Bankhead and Mrs Larry Clark of Mesquite. Mrs Gordon Nelson of Wolfe City served the punch. Guests were registered by Mrs Maurine Barker of Dallas, aunt of the bride.
For her wedding trip Mrs. Blanton chose an orchid embroidered sheath dress with matching jacket and hat. Her other accessories were white, and her corsage was from her wedding bouquet.
After a short wedding: trip, the couple will be at home in Wolfe City for the summer. They will move to Dallas this fall 'where Mr Blanton will be a teacher in the Dallas school system, and Mrs Blanton will continue teaching in the Richardson schools.
Mrs. J, O. Blanton was hostess at the rehearsal dinner held Thursday night in the Fairlie Community Center. The bridal party was seated at a large table centered with an arrangement of shasta daisies and greenery, and other guests were seated at smaller tables for four. About twentv attended.
A buffet supper for out-of-town family members and guests was held following the wedding at the Fairhe Community Center.
