SPOKANE MAN
KILLED IN PLANE CRASH

Wesley Bard, former Spokane
boy and son of Mrs. Mildred Bard,
conducting a photo studio here,
was instantly killed Saturday along
with four others in an airplane
crash near Worland, in north cen-
tral Wyoming.

Bard, who was 24 years old, lived
in Spokane from the time he was
8 years old, but had been in Grey-
bull, Wyo., for the last few years,
as a painter and cartoonist. He was
a licensed transport pilot, receiv-
ing his training at Felts field here,
ans was planning to visit Spokane
this fall.

The airplane crash came when
the ship's motor failed at an alti-
tude of only 300 feet and the ma-
chine went into a spin.

William O. Bashaw, 34, Seattle,
was piloting the craft, and besides
Bard, others aboard were Miss
Helen Brattus, Renton, Wash.;
Lloyd Paris, 28, Worland, and W.
S. Bledsoe, Valley Falls, Kan. All
were killed.

Besides his mother, Mr. Bard is
survived by his father, Otis L.
Bard; two brothers, Forrest and
Herbert Bard, two sisters, Mrs.
Edna Larsen and Miss Alice Bard,
all of Spokane. The body is being
brought back here for burial.
