Weed David "Dee" Howell, 82 of Flint, Mich. died November 20, 2011 at Brian's House in Davison, Mich. Weed was born in Laing, W. Va. on September 3, 1929, the son of the late Weed and Anna Laura Harris Howell. He was the youngest of seven children, and a resident of Flint since 1955, coming from West Virginia. He proudly served in the Korean Conflict during 1948-1954 Army Second Infantry Division and was a Master Sergeant when he was discharged. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Life Member Second Division Second Infantry Division Korean War Veterans Alliance and a Member of Korean War Branch. Weed was a VFW Post #4087 Life Member. Weed was employed 34 years for General Motors and was a member of UAW Local 659. He worked 30 years for the Flint Board Of Education. He ran the after schools activities for McKinley School, was an umpire for blooper ball and facilitated volleyball and basketball. Weed was a member of First Wesleyan Church, and past president of the Fenton Road Neighborhood Association. All his grandchildren knew him as Papaw. Surviving are wife, Geraldine "Jerri"; son, John David; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and one brother.
