Retired Kayford Miner Succumbs
Weed J. Howell, 73-year-old retired miner of Kayford, died yesterday in a Charleston hospital following a short illness. Mr. Howell was a member of Local 750, UMW of A, at Kayford.
Survivors; the widow, Laura; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Smith of Kayford, Mrs. Ben Thomas of
Ohley, Mrs. Carl Jackson of Dawes, Mrs. John Barker of Chesapeake and Mrs. Byron Muncy
of Acme; two sons, John of Kayford and Weed with the Army in Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Irvin Thomas of Kayford, Mrs. T. S. Kennedy of Eskdale and Mrs. Ida Sherer of Red House, 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The body is at Pryor mortuary of East Bank.
