Mr. Emmit Dolan Acklin age 82 of Norfork passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the Community Medical Center of Izard County in Calico Rock. He was born March 20, 1934 in Martin Springs, Arkansas to Chester Arthur Acklin and Corgel Cordelia Faught Acklin. He married Bettie Ruth Reynolds on October 25, 1952 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was employed in heavy construction on multiple projects and worked for Boeing before retirement. Mr. Acklin was a prolific writer and published 38 books. He wrote childrens books, local genealogies and history. He was a 50 year Mason. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bettie Ruth Acklin of Norfork; 3 daughters: Catherine Ruth (Billy Joe) Beard of Three Brothers, Carol Ann (Tommy) Havner of Norfork and Cynthia Jeannette (Lloyd) Loosey of Dover, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren: Tommy Alan (Kim) Havner, Emmit Eugene (April) Loosey, Benjamin Euwell Loosey and Jennifer (Brandon) Garner; 5 great grandchildren: Alayna Rachelle Havner, Nathan Tyler Loosey, Steven Mason Loosey, Mollie Cherlyn Loosey and Gavin Cole Garner; 4 sisters: Normalea Funkhouser of Norfork, Sandra Rosetta Jones of Wichita, Kansas, Anna May Fredia Fern Smithson of Calico Rock and Easter Dorene Ford of Calico Rock; 1 brother Dennis Acklin of Jordan, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Cheryl Leslie Acklin in 1974 and a brother Robert Chester (RC) Acklin. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Saturday October 29, 2016 at Roller Funeral Home. Graveside services conducted by Pastor Ray Lamb will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Galatia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
