The Falls City Journal, Falls City, Nebraska, Monday, November 28, 1955:

Rulo Man Found Dead in Auto
With circumstances indicating the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning, Albert J. Volz, 69, Rulo, died in his car some time Saturday night, Nov. 26, 1955, or Sunday morning.
The ignition of the car was still turned on when Mrs. Volz discovered her husband in the car and was not able to arouse him. Earl Frederick, a neighbor, told Sheriff Irvin F. Gates that he turned off the ignition after he arrived at the scene.
The car was in the Volz garage and the doors of the garage were closed.
While circumstances indicated the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning, it was known that Mr. Volz also had been subject to heart attacks.
However, there was nothing to indicate any possibility of suicide, the sheriff said.
Mr. Volz had gone down town Saturday night and, as far as the authorities learned, it was not known when he returned home.
Mr. Volz was born Feb. 15, 1886, on a farm in Arago precinct. He was a son of the late Barnhardt and Katherine Volz. He farmed all of his life in the vicinity of Arago until retiring and moving to Rulo eight years ago. Since then he had been doing some carpenter work.
Oct. 28, 1940, he was united in marriage to Agnes Schroeder at Rulo. The couple established their home on a farm 10 miles north-west of Rulo.
Besides his widow, Mr. Volz is survived by two brothers, Henry Volz, Kansas City, and Joe Volz, Englewood, Colo., and a sister, Mrs. Fred Pribbeno, Falls City.
The body of Mr. Volz is here at Chaney-Hodgens-Sharrar funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight. The funeral mass will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Immaculate Conception Catholic church at Rulo in charge of Father Ralph Egan. Burial will be in the Falls City Catholic cemetery.
