Emma Florence, daughter of Josephus and Mary Salladay, was born in Lawrence Co., OH., Sept 27, 1858, and passed away, May 17, 1930, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 20 days. She was the 7th child of a family of 12, 5 of whom preceded her in death in early childhood. At the age of 8 years she came to Iowa with her parents making their home on a farm 1 mile south of Troy.
On January 8, 1884, she was united in marriage to Harvey Moore. As every family has its share of grief, so also this couple, for only after 17 months of marriage, Mr Moore passed away. But the hand of fate was kind for on November 21, 1888, she was married to George Estle Roby. To this union 2 children were born, Mrs Esta Hilpert and Faye Roby, both of Troy, IA. Mr Roby passed away October 18, 1925.
She leaves to mourn 2 children, Mrs Esta Hilpert and Faye at home, one son-in-law, Mr Frank Hilpert and 2 grandchildren, Roby and Fern Hilpert, 4 sisters, Mrs Laura Utt, of Savannah, IA; Mrs Sade Downing of Floris, IA; Mrs Jessie Downing of Selma; and Mrs Jennie McCloskey, Messrs. Wm and A J Salladay, all of Calif. Funeral services were held at the Troy M E Church, with interment in the Troy Cemetery.
