The picture that I have posted is of Jessie and Walter. My father, Clair Pettit, was the son of Walter's daughter Hallie Vey, and Jessie was the lady that he and his siblings called "Grandma."

SERVICES SATURDAY FOR JESSIE DOWNING
Jessie L. Downing, daughter of Joseph and Mary Salladay, was born near Troy on May 5, 1872.
She was married to W.E. Downing on Jan. 15, 1893. He preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 1938. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick funeral home in Douds. Rev. Robert Farr officiated.
Internment was in Mt. Moriah cemetery.
Survivors are: one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Ruble, Selma; three stepchildren, Van Downing, Midwest City, Okla., Mrs. Vivian Chamberlain, Great Falls, Mont., and Mrs. Vaye Pettit, Ottumwa. Also several grand children and great grandchildren.
