She was born on July 25th, 1913, in Manchaca, Texas to Willie and Maggie (Perry) Hargis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Fred Lee and McKinley Black, daughter Joyce Lee Harrison, son-in-law Bobbie Williams, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Bertha Lee Williams, sister Estelle Hargis Black, niece Johnnie Mae Overton (Roscoe), great-niece Marva Overton, son-in-law Willie B. Harrison, grandson Ronald L. Harrison, grand-daughter Connie Spears (Emmitt), three great grand children, two great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Bertha retired from American National Bank after twenty one years of service. She took pride in being honored as one of the oldest mothers at Rising Star Baptist Church, her church home for over sixty years. She served as a choir member, nurse aide, Junior Mission and Mission II member. She taught Sunday School for five years, some thing she truly enjoyed! Her loving smile and charming personality will be missed.
A very special thanks to her daughter Bertha who took loving and special care of "Dee Dee" over many years. She has been a special blessing to our family. The family would also like to thank Dr. John Murray, Saint David's Medical Center and Hospice Austin's Christopher House.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas, 78660.
