Age 21 came west by pack train in the employ of the government to Yreka, CA...looked for gold, then became a scout and indian fighter for the government...about 1870 came to Walla Walla, WA...started sawmill near Waitsburg, then engaged in farming...1874 married Mrs. Mary Elizabeth SAYLER, who owned an adjoining ranch/farm; he then sold his sawmill...1900 sold his property at Dixie and moved to a homestead on the Tucannon for 15 years; last two years lived with his daughter (Mrs. A.J. Graden) in Clasoll, MT, but died at his step-daughter's, Laura, (Mrs. C.C. Warwick) in Dayton, WA...buried by his son, Arthur E (dec'd 8 Aug 1892)...Also survived by a daughter Mrs. E.G.
