Son of Johannes "John" Bourree II and Marie Catharine Rieb of Laubach, Hesse, Germany.

Christian Bourree emigrated in 1899 settling in Wilkes-Barre, PA where his two sisters (Marie and Elsie) were settled. He was trained as a baker in his native Germany and continued this trade in Pennsylvania running his own bakery but eventually he became the head baker for Horn and Hardart. He eventually moved to New York City to continue his fine work for the company and the Automat. He and his wife Rosa bought an island in Maine and chose to have their final resting place in the state of Maine.

His sister Marie Bach is buried Trucksville, PA; Elsie Bourree was buried in Forty-Fort, PA and other sister Barbara Elisabethe Beranck is buried in Hamburg, Germany
