Amanda Henrietta F. Goodin was born to Joseph Hardin Goodin and his wife Virginia Rose (Jane) Allen on 27 January 1842, somewhere in Texas as the family was on a cattle and sheep drive from Missouri to Texas. She grew up in rural Greene County, Cass Township, where her parents were prominent. Her father, Joseph, was one the leaders of the Republican party and one of about 50 who voted for Abraham Lincoln, which was an unpopular stance.
She married Hiram F Blankenship, who had come from Polk County, Tennessee with at least one of his brothers on 15 September 1859 in Greene County, Missouri. She had at least five children by him, being Mary E Blankenship, b. 1860, d. 1860; Joseph William Blankinship (Blankenship), 1862-1938; Nancy Eleanor Blankenship Neaves Bonner, b. 1864, d. 1950; Anna Adeline Blankenship Fortner, b. 1866, d. 1937; and Laura Allen Blankenship Bonner, b. 1868, d. 1917. Her husband, who was the Postmaster in Willard, died on 14 Nov 1868, probably of an epileptic stroke, leaving her with only a rocky bit of land, some 40 acres next to her parents' land, on which to rear the four remaining children.
Amanda remarried to Thomas B Mallicoat, by whom she had a child, Samuel Clyde Mallicoat in about 1875, but she divorced Mallicoat after he was convicted of a felony, and she regained the surname of Blankenship.
She resided in Cass Township until at least 1880, thereafter living with her son, JW Blankenship in Bozeman, Montana, in 1900 and in Murray Township with her daughter Anna Fortner in 1910 and 1920. She died on 24 Nov 1922, at her daughter's home.
