The remains of John Mirise, who died at Nashville a few days since, arrived here Thursday and will be buried at Roscoe this (Friday) afternoon. Obituary next week.
NOTE: The library did not find a subsequent obit in the next week or so.

The undersigned would respectfully inform his friends and the traveling public generally that he has leased the new and splendid house in Roscoe, Ohio and has fitted it up in good style under the name of UNION HOTEL where he will be pleased to wait on all who may become his guests, with the kindest possible attention, the best of rooms and beds, and every comfort and convenience the most fastidious can desire.
HIS TABLE will be furnished with the best the country affords, prepared in good style, and served up at all hours of the day.
He has STABLE ROOM for horses, yards, and {illegible} for wagons, and every other convenience, with kind and attentive ostlers, which the traveler needs.
He will run a HACK regularly between Roscoe and the railroad depot, twice each day, carrying passengers and baggage to and from his house free of charge.
A DAILY LINE OF STAGES leaves his house every morning at 8 o'clock, connecting with the Cleveland railroad at Millersburg at 3 o'clock PM so that passengers leaving 17 Dec 1856, Coshocton at 8 AM will reach Cleveland at 7 PM of the same day.
Determined to spare no pains to deserve the good will of the public, he respectfully solicits their confidence and patronage.

Bishop, Remington & Co versus John Mirise
By virtue of an execution to me directed, duly issued out of the Court of Common Pleas of Coshocton County, Ohio, I will offer for sale in the town of Roscoe, at the residence of John Mirise, on MONDAY the 7th of DECEMBER 1857 between the hours of 10 o'clock am and 4 o'clock 4pm the following property to wit: one two-horse wagon, one omnibus, one dark brown horse, one light brown or bay horse, one sorrel pony, 12 head of hogs, also a lease made by the Trustees of the Roscoe Hotel Company to said Mirise of the Union Hotel. Taken as the property of John Mirise at the suit of Bishop, Remington, and Co.

Cousin Kathleen Hughes Fisher says the story she got was that he was poisoned by rebels on the way back home from TN. Another oral history was that he was at a picnic celebrating the end of the Civil War and ate potato salad that had become toxic in the heat.

Birthplace could be OH or PA or NY.
