Mrs. Mary Magdalene Shoat of Rt. 1, Ellsinore, died Jan. 10, 1981 at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital in Doniphan. She was 85 years of age.

Mrs. Shoat was born Oct. 18, 1895, in Ripley County, the daughter of George W. and Christine Stacy Griffith. She was married to John T. Emmons in 1912 and he preceded her in death in 1938. She later married Johnson Shoat March 28, 1975 in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Shoat preceded her in death on Jan 08, 1981.

Mrs. Shoat moved to Cape Girardeau in 1940, and back to Ellsinore in 1974. She had been employed by the Valet Laundry, The Idan-Ha Hotel and John Hay Barge Lines. She was a member of The Faith Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Surviving are sons: Eugene Emmons, Weldon Emmons and Vernon Emmons, all of Cape Girardeau, Linden Emmons of Paducah, Ky.; daughters, Gail McClard of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Gwenda Henry of Tucson, Ariz.; two step-sons, four step-daughters, 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Ford & Sons Funeral Home on Wed., Jan. 14, 1981, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Harley Statler officiating. Burial was in Lorimer Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.B. McClard, Lynn Statler, Keith and Don Emmons, Bill Goodwin and Joe Niswonger.She was married three times, last husband was Richard Shoat.
