Jessie Mae Stewart was born to Bessie Mae Stewart Merritt and Floyd Stewart, Jr. She attended schools in the Halls Bluff Community in Houston County. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Houston, Texas until her demise.
Jessie met and married George Mass at an early age. They were blessed with one son, Aubrey Lee.
She departed this life on February 10, 2004 in Crockett. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Rosena Stewart and Florence Johnson.
Services were held at the Progressive Baptist Church in Crockett, interment followed in Dickson Hopewell Cemetery.
