Isaac was born in Morristown, New Jersey, the son of Daniel Morris and his wife Hannah. He and Rebecca Hathaway were received into the Presbyterian Church at that place, where they were married on May 11, 1768. In 1778 he came as part of the original Columbia Settlement in present-day Hamilton County, Ohio, and in 1790 was one of the charter members of the First Presbyterian Church of Cincinnati. Sometime before 1800 he removed to Warren County where he settled northwest of the county seat Lebanon. He was a founder of Turtle Creek Presbyterian Church, and when that congregation disbanded he became a founding member of the Lebanon Presbyterian Church. His homestead in Warren County was standing as late as 1920 and was known at one time as 'Green Tree Tavern'.
