Daniel Morris, Jr. was the eldest son and eldest child of Daniel Morris, Sr. and his wife Hannah Mary (Riggs) Morris of Morristown, New Jersey. The family were members of the Morristown Presbyterian Church in which churchyard many family members are buried. Many of the family members were also married and baptized at this church including Daniel Jr.

Daniel, Jr. married Hannah Armstrong on December 1, 1742 at Morristown Presbyterian Church. The marriage produced 7 children.
