Son of Lewis Henry and Betsey DeBerry Delony of Alabama; married Elizabeth Pearson on August 12, 1858 at Mulberry, Lincoln County, Tennessee; came to Arkansas in 1860 with their infant son, war broke out and he joined the Confederacy; captured and held prisoner from May 17, 1863 until release on December 26, 1863; he and his wife opened a school at Washington, Arkansas; he later became a law partner of Judge Eakin; later devoting his time to his cotton plantations; moved the family to Little Rock in 1888 and built a home at 616 Rock Street.
