Funeral services were held at Sharp & Doney Chapel Monday morning for James R. Ennis, 77, who died Thursday at Willowcrest where he had lived for a month. He was a resident of Colorado for thirty years, and most of that in Del Norte. He was born near Clinton, Arkansas, March 7, 1892, the son of Isaiah and Samaria Ennis (nee Samaria Frances Collins).
Mr. Ennis was a carpenter and builder during his active years, and an evangelist during many years of church work. He retired several years ago because of poor health.
He and Nellie West were married nearly twenty years ago and have made their home here.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Marie Burris, Riverton, Wyoming, and Geraldine Sartain of Grand Junction; six sons, Ardell of Denver, Orville of Buffallo, Wyoming, Emil of Del Norte, Edwin of Evansville, Wyoming, Ralph of Helena, Montana, and David of Banner, Wyoming; one stepson, Bill West of Chicago; twenty-four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters also survive.
Rev. Herman Reimer officiated and pallbearers were Ivan Tomlinson, Virgil Kintz, M.F. Horn, Dwight Davis, Fred Bachmann, and Oz Goodman.
