Edna Rogers was born August 30, 1920 near LaPlata, Missouri, the daughter of Pete Alonzo Mitchell and Dixie Catherine (Six) Mitchell.
On March 30, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Harold Dean Rogers who preceded her in death on December 5, 1992.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary (Mitchell) Cusick and two brothers, Virgil C. Mitchell and Francis Royer Mitchell.
She is survived by three sons, Randall D. Rogers of Phoenix, Arizona, Alan D. Rogers of Hillsboro, Oregon and Tony E. Rogers and his wife, Tina Kay of Ozawkie, Kansas; two grandsons, Tristan N. Rogers and Travis C. Rogers both of Ozawkie, Kansas; one brother, Paul A. Mitchell of Rayville, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rogers graduated from the Brashear High School in 1940 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1949 from the Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University) in Kirksville.
She was employed by the Pratt-Whitney Aircraft Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri in 1945-46. She held various elementary teaching positions in Northeast Missouri and Kirksville and taught at the Willard Elementary School in Kirksville from 1965 until her retirement in May, 1981.
Edna was active in the Missouri National Education Association throughout most of her teaching career, serving as president from 1974 to 1976. She had also been a member of the Kirksville Community Teachers Association, Missouri State Teacher s Association, American Legion auxillary and had been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and RSVP. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Kirksville, Missouri."
