Del Norte Prospector dated August 1, 1947
The community was greatly saddened by the passing of one of its young citizens, Madeline Ary Duerr, early Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Madeline was born at Fowler, Colorado, October 26, 1916, and lived there until she was four years of age when her family moved to Del Norte. She lived in this community 25 years. One year was spent at Florence, Colorado.
She attended the Del Norte schools and was graduated with the class of 1934. On May 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Robert C. Duerr, of Del Norte.
She belonged to the American legion Auxiliary, Clio Club and Presbyterian Ladies Aid. She became a member of the church at the age of 12. Her contribution to the church and aid will be missed greatly, as she was an untiring and faithful member.
For the past few years she has been an employee of the local J.C. Penney Company. She always met the public with cheerfulness, patience and understanding.
As a wife, daughter and sister, she was truly a living, considerate and thoughtful person in every way. Doing kind deeds for others was always uppermost in her mind.
To her many friends she will always be remembered as a kind, true, and faithful friend. To make a happy and pleasant home for her husband was her chief interest and hobby.
Besides a host of friends in the community, she leaves to mourn her passing a devoted husband, Robert Duerr; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Ary; one sister, Mrs. Charles Fouquet, and a brother, Ray. A brother, Kenneth, is deceased. He was killed in action at Tarawa.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church this afternoon with Rev. John Wright officiating. Interment will be at the Del Norte cemetery.
