Lorena May Ary, 92, a former clerk and the Del Norte J.C. Penney store for many years, died last Wednesday, June 18, at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. She was born Sept. 23, 1893 in Garden City, Kansas to William Mariott and Katie Winkler. She was married to Clarence Ary who preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Mrs. Ary worked at J.C. Penney until 1958. She was a member of Pioneer United Church and was a Gold Star Mother. Her special interests included quilting and embroidery. She had lived in Del Norte since 1920.
Survivors are son, Ray, Manassa; daughter, Kathryn Davies, Del Norte; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son, Kenneth, in Nov. 1943, and daughter, Madeline Duerr in July, 1947.

[Note: The Gold Star Mother is because her son, Kenneth was killed in action. So far as we know, his remains were never recovered. He is memorialized on his parents' tombstone as well as on the "Courts of the Missing" in Honolulu, Hawaii.
