Alice McInturff Bowles, 74 year old mother of two Del Norte women, died Saturday after a period of ill health. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Del Norte Methodist Church with Rev. J. L. Chestnutt in charge. Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery.

Alice McInturff was born on Feb. 22, 1861, at Greenfield, Missouri. As a child she lived in St. Louis and attended the schools there. On Feb. 9, 1879 she was married to Austin Bowles at Greenfield. The wedded life continued for 56 years until his death in January of this year.
In 1898 the family moved from Missouri to the Arkansas Valley in Colorado and four years later to the San Luis Valley. Mrs. Bowles is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A. V. Stephenson and Mrs. Glen Cochran of Del Norte; Mrs. Ethel Winters of Los Angeles, California; a son, Mack Bowles of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, Richard, died in 1919.
