William Aebischer

William Aebischer, 91, of Chilton, a retired Calumet county farmer, died early Sunday morning at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac following an illness of four months. He had been hospitalized two months.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Aebischer, he was born in the town of Charlestown, Calumet County, July 27, 1863. He married the former Lucy Weeks in Charlestown, Nov. 17, 1892. Mrs. Aebischer died Jan. 21, 1952. He was a member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church, Chilton, and of the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He served as Worshipful Master of the Masonic lodge and Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. He was raised to Master Mason on Oct. 23, 1909.

In 1892 he purchased a farm in Ever Green valley where he continued active in farming interests for several years. He served as a director in the public school district, the Chilton National Bank, and the Calumet County Fair association. He was also interested in farming in northern Wisconsin. He served as a junior and senior warden at St. Boniface Episcopal church for a number of years.

Surviving are one son, Frederick C., at home; a daughter, Mrs. Lynda Albers of Superior; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Horst of Superior, Wis.

Services will be held Tuesday with Masonic rites at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral home and at St. Boniface Episcopal Church were the Rev. Edmund Webster, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.

Aebischer, William Fred (July 27, 1863-Jan. 9, 1955 –husband of Lucy Weeks [married Nov. 17, 1892 in religious ceremony, Town of Charlestown] –son of Christian Aebischer [1828-1881] and Susanne Lerch [1835-1916] who were married in Sept. of 1856 in the Town of Maple Grove –William was born in Town of Charlestown –in the 1900 census for the Town of Charlestown, William and Lucy are shown living on a farm with their children Frederick [1895- ] and Livyna Bertha [1899-1996] –for the short period of Feb. 12 to March 12, 1913, William owned the 40-acre farm at N3920 Weeks Road in Section 16, Town of Charlestown –from Jan. 18, 1926 to Oct. 11, 1948, William owned a 162-acre farm centered along Aebischer Road in Section 10, Town of Charlestown –42 acres of this farm were in Section 15 north of the Manitowoc River –died from "cardiac failure, 2 weeks –auricular fibrillation, 3 weeks –arteriosclerotic heart disease") –buried at the Hillside Cemetery, Chilton [marriage record Calumet 3-134] [death record Calumet 14-20]
