Schweer and Deepke Broers and their three children, Anna, Peter, and Brower, immigrated to America in 1849, landing in Old Indianola before coming to Gonzales that same year.

Peter Broers b. Oct. 19, 1845 - d. Mar. 6, 1901 born Oldendorf, Prussia, Kingdom of Hanover died in Hondo, Medina Co. TX (married 1893 Fannie Stits Hester)
Brower Broers b. Apri. 24, 1848 - 1927 (married Elizabeth Doretta Lipps)
Martin Borers b. Dec. 7, 1851 - 1887 (married Aryanna Lipps)

Old Landmark Removed

The family burial ground of the Broers which is situated on the lot on East Avenue belonging to Mr. Fred Boothe and Mrs. Jahnke, is being cleared up, and the graves are being removed to the Masonic and Odd Fellows cemeteries.
The first grave was made in the year 1849 when the family first moved to Gonzales. The old stone which marked this spot has been removed to the Odd Fellows cemetery.
