May Purdom was the daughter of Sam H. and Laura A. Purdom; sister of Wilson Wynn and Annie L. Purdom.

Galveston Daily News dated August 14, 1904:
Miss May Purdom left via Hope, Ark., where she will make a brief visit to friends, thence to Marysville, Ohio, where she has received a scholarship in the training school of the Marysville Sanitariium. She will take a two years' course at this place and a post-graduate course in New York City. Miss Purdom is well known having always made this her home, and by her pleasing personality has made for herself many friends whose good wishes will go with her and her new home.


In the 1930 Federal Census she's a patient in Dr. Moody's Sanitarium in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas (Enumeration Dist. 15-101, Supervisors Dist. 22 Texas, Sheet No. 41-A, Line 31). The sanitarium is located on Breckenridge Ave.

Her death is listed in the Alabama Deaths and Burials Index, 1881-1974, as having died in Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama on 23 October 1948. She is also listed in Alabama Deaths, 1908-1959, Volume 43, Certificate #21347, Roll 5.
