Carmelee Aldridge Ellis, age 94, of 297 R.J. Aldridge Road, the Foscoe Community, died November 12, 2011, at her home. She was born May 16, 1917 in Watauga County. She was a homemaker and a member of Watauga Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Coffey of the home, and Pat Welch and husband Jerry of Hamptonville, North Carolina; one son, Terry L. Ellis of Zionville; two daughters-in-law, Hazel Ellis Pyatt of Banner Elk, and Tula Ellis Wilson of Lenoir; five sisters, Verlene Roark of Boone, Bernice Byrd of Banner Elk, Blanche Byrd and husband Howard of Banner Elk, Mary Wilcox and husband James of Vilas, and Jean Gragg and husband Bobby of Lenoir; one brother, Wade Aldridge and wife Ann of Morganton, and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Aldridge of the Foscoe Community, and Joann Aldridge of Jacksboro, Tennessee. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar F. Ellis; two sons, Thomas Dewey Ellis and Jack Harold Ellis; one sister, Prince Aldridge; six brothers, Lon, Marsh, Clell, Jim, Marl, and Steward Aldridge, and one son-in-law, Bobby Coffey.
Funeral services were held at Watauga Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend R.D. Watson and Reverend Zane Tester. Burial in the Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery.
