William Daniel Getty 83, died Saturday, July 26, 1997, in Rancho Bernardo. Bom March 13, 1914, in Pittsburgh, he was a self-employed residential builder and developer. Mr. Getty was a musician, song composer and lyricist who led a dance band and hosted a radio show in Pittsburgh. He was draftsman and builder of more than 700 homes and office buildings. He also was an appraiser and real estate broker and sold the first lots in the La Costa area. He was preceded in death by Annina Mary Getty, on July 22, 1978. He is survived by his sons, William D. Getty Jr. of Lake San Marcos, Roy Getty of West Ore. and Robert M. Getty of Las Vegas, daughters Mary Ann Getty Sullivan of Pittsburgh, Jeanie Getty Knop of Carlsbad and Carole Getty Corfman of Woodside; brother the Rev. Roy G. Getty of Pittsburgh; sister Florine Getty Sands of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be recited at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Carlsbad. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 27454 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Sisters of Mercy Chapel Fund, do Sullivan, 227 Rodilin Drive, Pittsburgh, Pa.
