David Benjamin Marti was born to his loving parents Gottfried "Godfrey" and Harmke "Rosina" Gerdes Dirks "Rose" (Conrad) Marti on Monday December 17, 1877 in the State of Illinois. David's family while he was an infant moved to Bellwood, Butler County Nebraska. David's family later settled at Hasting, Adams County. My research found no information on David's schooling. David taught in a rural school for a short period of time. David was united in marriage to Hettie Brown in the year of 1899 at Hasting, they were blessed with two sons over the years of their marriage. David served as the Superintendent of Schools at Holstein, Adam County from 1899 to 1900. David attended Hastings College while teaching commercial subjects at Hastings Academy from 1900 to 1901. David started growing tired of teaching so he began a real estate business, he sold land in western Nebraska and Kansas. In 1907 David moved his family to Omaha where he managed a number of wholesale firms for a few years. David then returned to Hasting where he re-entered the real estate business. In 1924 David moved his family to Lincoln where for the next twenty two years he served on the faculty of the Lincoln School of Commerce, he taught courses in Business English, letter writing, accounting, and commercial subjects. In 1946 David returned to real estate and the insurance field. David was prominent in civic affairs serving on the Lincoln City Planning Board from 1948 to 1956. David stayed at Lincoln until his retirement in 1967. David sadly passed away at Lincoln, Lancaster County in the month of July 1970 at the age of ninety two. My research found no information on David's funeral. David was interred in the Lincoln Memorial Park of Lincoln. David's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory. This biography was created as an honor to David by Loren R. I believe all lives matter, even the lives of those who have passed. Many details are still missing from his life, if you have any more details I will be happy to edit the additional information into this biography.
