Preston Garland Staton
Preston Garland Staton, 58, of 200 Dianne Drive,
Lynchburg, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998 at his residence.
He was the husband of Doris Steppe Staton.
Born in Amherst County, Feb. 3, 1940, he was a son of Helen Staton Kitchens and the late Lewis E. Staton. He was a retired supervisor for B&W and later employed by W.E.L. Inc. He was a member of the Antique Auto Club of America, Model A Club and a member of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Allen W. Staton and his wife, Debbie of Concord, Edward L. Staton and his wife, Ann of Mechanicsville; one daughter, Tammy S. Blanchard and her husband, Larry of Madison Heights; one brother, James (Spikey)Staton and his wife, Debbie of Lynchburg; two sisters, Phyllis W. Coleman and husband, Jerome of Lynchburg, Sandra Patterson-Calcott of Charleston, S.C.; two grandchildren, Jessica Marie Staton, Taylor Joseph Blanchard and his stepmother, Doris Johnson and her husband, Don.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with the Rev. Mark Grooms officiating. Interment to follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel and other times at the residence.
The family also suggests memorials may be made to
Thomas Terrace Baptist Church or the Concord Rescue Squad.
