Roy H. Ford, 91, longtime Milton resident, died on Nov. 5, 2011, at Crestview Manor in Crestview, Fla.

He was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Moravia to Harry Howard and Goldie P. Knapp Ford. He married Clarice Rosemary Lancaster in November 1958 in Ottumwa. She died on May 16, 2010.

Roy served his country in the U.S.Army and U.S.Air Force for a total of 26 years. He had also worked at the Iowa Army Ordnance Plant, Middletown, and he had been Van Buren County Veterans Affairs Commissioner. Roy was a member of the Milton Christian Church, which he served in numerous capacities, was a 50-year Mason in Celestial Lodge No. 413, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons and a Past Patron of Twin City Chapter No. 258, Order of Eastern Star, both in Douds. He was a member of Masonic Low Twelve Club in Ottumwa and was a Past Commander and longtime Adjutant of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, Milton.

Survivors include a son, Martin Ford of Cherry Valley, Ark.; a daughter, Deborah S.(Dean)Thomas of Laurel Hill, Fla.; a brother, Rex of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters, Viola Rominger and Sally June Schiermeier; and his brother, Edwin Ford.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua; with Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Masonic Rites by Celestial Lodge will follow the service. Roy's body has been cremated. Burial of cremains will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton with military rites by Russell-Strait Post. Visitation with the family present will be 1-2 pm immediately preceding the memorial service. Memorials to Russell-Strait Post.
