John Wesley Wright was born January 17, 1911 in Brookesmith, Brown County, Texas to James King Wright and Carolina "Carrie" Garms. The Wright family moved from Texas to Arizona, settling in the Verde Valley, near Camp Verde and for the summer months, to Garland Prairie, Coconino County, near Parks. John's father moved the family a lot as he was a minister and moved from one church to the other. John was diagnosed with diabetis mellitus a year before he died. He went into a diabetic coma and passed away February 23, 1924. He was buried on the home place on Garland Prairie, in the back yard. Four years later another child, Esther Elizabeth Wright, little niece, died of pneumonia and is buried beside him. The family planted iris on the graves, that still bloom today. John was just a school boy when his young life was cut short. May he rest in peace.
