Ethel Edna Barrows, 79, died Dec. 22, 2001, at the Helen Porter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She was born April 1, 1922, in Charlotte, a daughter of Emery and Ida (LaForce) Abair. She married Richard Barrows in 1945. They lived in Addison County, where Mrs. Barrows was a homemaker. He died in 1979. In earlier years she played the accordion and guitar and was a member of a country and western band. Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine A. Hallock of Middlebury; a son, William Barrows of Addison; three grandsons and her long time caregiver and companion, Barbara Fuller. Two brothers, Carl Abair and Arthur Abair; and two sisters, Catherine Derouchie and Helen Goulette, are deceased. Graveside committal services and burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. Peter's Cemetery in Vergennes. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen Porter Health and Rehabilitation Center, Porter Drive, Middlebury, VT 05753, or to a charity of one's choice.The Sanderson Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
