FOSTER ADVANCE Alvin Gene "Butterbean" Foster April 25, 1935 - Oct. 20, 2011 Mr. Alvin Gene "Butterbean" Foster, 76 of Advance passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1935 in Davie County to Romulus Alvin and Nannie Bell Smith Foster. Mr. Foster retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 25 years of service and later operated Foster's Wrecker Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James F. Foster; five brothers; three sisters; his first wife, Geraldine Cornatzer and his second wife Shelby Jarvis Foster. Surviving is his wife, Kay Smith Foster; two daughters, Norma Miller of Taylorsville and Edna Gosnell of Advance; a sister, Nola Jane Payne and husband Ronald; five grandchildren, Ivy Johnson and husband Jason, Holly Gosnell, Heather Lagle and husband Tommy, Andrew Gosnell and Neal Icenhour; two great grandchildren, Macey and Cade Johnson; two step-sons, Brian and Paul Keeton and four step grandsons. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Craddock and Rev. Barry Lemons officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
