ADVANCE — Mr. John Taylor Foster, 83, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Davie County to Romulis Alvin and Nannie Bell Smith Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Foster was a member and deacon at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church. He was also a member of Oak Crest Baptist Church in Ocala, Fla. He was dedicated to his church, Lord, family and country. He served in the Philippines during World War II with the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Elizabeth Cope of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Dowell of Indiana; three sons, Jerry Foster and John Alvin Foster of Florida and Donald Foster of Advance; two sisters, Wilma Boger of Reeds and Nola Jane Payne of Bethania; three brothers, Billy Clay Foster of Gadson, Ala., Jim Foster of Tyro and Alvin Gene Foster of Advance; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two devoted and loving friends, Bonnie and Eddie Weatherman of Advance. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church by the Rev. Ronnie Craddock and the Rev. Leon Wood. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 1324 Yadkin Valley Road, Advance, NC 27006.
