Roseanna Margaret "Peggy" Stewart, born about 1829 in Anson County NC, was the daughter of Alfred Merrill Stewart, Sr. and Catherine Richardson Stewart.

Around 1854 her mother, then a widow, loaded her family in a wagon and began a move from NC, across the Blue Ridge Mountains to Henderson County in West Tennessee, in a group led by Rev Hosea Preslar. Peggy never married and lived with her mother and sister, Mahala Caroline Stewart.

After Peggy and her sister died, their house was being torn down and an old dirty stained pillowslip was found the the attic which contained many letters, receipts and other papers that their mother Catherine had saved. These are known as the "pillowslip papers". Among these were letters from her sons who wrote home to her during the Civil War.

It is unknown exactly when Peggy died. She was buried in the Preslar Cemetery in Henderson County TN along with others in her family.
