Magdalena "Maggie" Mitzel, 92, Napoleon, died April 25, 2005, at a Napoleon care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Napoleon, with the Rev. Jerome Hunkler and Deacon Gary Schmacher officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Magdalena Wangler, daughter of Wendelin and Elizabeth (Zerr) Wangler, was born June 1, 1912, near Napoleon. Magdalena grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. She was united in marriage to Anton Mitzel Oct. 24, 1938. Anton died in 1950. Magdalena lived in Napoleon all her life doing housekeeping, painting and taking in laundry to make a living. She worked at the Napoleon Care Center from 1965 to 1984, when she retired. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Napoleon. Magdalena entered the Napoleon Care Center in 2002.

She is survived by one daughter, Bernie (Ray) Mitzel Berreth, Bismarck; two step-sons, Tony (Leona) Mitzel, Billings, Mont., and Leonard Mitzel, Chicago; seven grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Clara Weigel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton; her parents; three brothers; two sisters; one great-grandchild; and one stepdaughter and her husband, Marie and Dave Lees.
