In Memory of Claude Green

One day a bright and shining angel
came,
And threw her shadow o'er
The smiling face of our darling
Claude,
Who seemed waiting at Heaven's door.
"I've come for you my darling
"To bear your spirit away
"To dwell with me, in the mansions
of light,
In the realms of eternal day."

And though your hearts were break
ing,
As you folded him to your heart
And saw life's tide slowly ebbing,
And knew that you must part
With sweet angelic whispers,
And a smile, in his precious eyes.
"I'm coming, Mamma," he whis
pered.
And she bore his spirit to the skies.

And now, he is sweetly resting
His head on her sainted brest.
Around him a hale of glory,
In the mansions of the blest.
Dear ones, I know you will miss
him.
But the casket is only 'neath the sod,
While the soul is a precious jewel, That adorns the throne of God.

There-Earth's vanities cannot tar
nish
It's bright and brilliant line
Or sorrow dim the luster
Of his spirit sweet and pure.
We must bow in meek submission
To the will of our infinite, God.
And know, that each of His children
Must feel the weight of the rod.

He is waiting at Heaven's portal,
He is smiling on each of you.
May the sweetest peace and comfort
Be given your hearts, warm and true.
