Ida E. Brooks, Loving Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother and Aunt, who lived to see her 100th birthday, died Saturday morning, September 30, 2006 in her home with her loving family present after a short illness.

Ida was born August 20, 1906 in Argyle, Illinois the daughter of Ernest J. and Amelia (Stralow) Rutz. Ida lived most of her life in Argyle. She worked for Amrock Corp in Rockford for many years. Ida was an avid traveler, seeing 49 States and Canada. She loved to sew and make crafts.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Katherine Whitney; grandchildren, Linda Holbert, John (Phyllis) Corey, Jr., Sandra Welch, Susanne (Jim) McCurdy, Mary (John) Porter, Richard (Betty Su) Corey, Larry (Connie) Corey, Terry House, Melody (Paul) Augsberger, Richard (Peggy) Whitney, Gloria Opsahl, Joanne (Steve) Parsons. She also leaves numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one cousin; special friend Florence Fritsch and special playmate Lilly Rodriguez.

Ida is predeceased by her parents, husbands, John A. Whitney, LeRoy C. Jones, William O. Brooks; children, John Whitney and Delores House; grandson Buddy Whitney; brother, Harry Rutz and sisters Hattie Artz and Abby Skinner.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2006 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Paul Krause, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL officiating. Burial will be in Highland Gardens of Memories. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

A memorial will be established in her name in care of the family.
