SULLIVAN KILLS SELF AFTER ATTEMPT TO SHOOT HIS WIFE Beasley Eugene Sullivan, 27, turned a 12-guage shotgun at himself after firing at his wife and missing her twice, Sheriff Ed Johnson reported. The shooting occurred at the Sullivan's Home on South Margin Street last Thursday night. Mrs. Sullivan told investigating officers that she and her husband had been having family trouble. She said that after she came home about 6:15 p.m. from the Gilco Drive-In where she was a waitress, the two had gotten into an argument. He asked he if she meant what she said about leaving him and she told him she did, the sheriff said. Johnson said
Mrs. Sullivan told him that her husband then picked up the gun and started shooting at her. Sullivan fired two blasts and missed his wife both times, the sheriff stated. She ran out the back door and Sullivan followed her. He returned to the house and fired again, killing himself instantly. Mrs. Sullivan called authorities and reported that her husband was trying to kill her, not knowing that he had killed himself. Johnson and County Coroner Ed Young investigated and found Sullivan's body in the kitchen with his neck torn by the blast. Mrs. Sullivan was formerly Miss Georgia Lois Tomlin. They have two children, Betty Christine and William Randolph. Sullivan was employed at the Royal Crown Bottling Company in Nashville. Funeral services were held Friday at Franklin Memorial Chapel with Ed Coursey officiating. Burial was in Anglin Cemetery in the Craigfield community.
