Gustaf Albert Carlson, son of Albertina Anderson and Carl A. Carlson, was born 21 June 1885 in Hayes Township, Ida County, Iowa. 11 December 1906 he married Hulda C. Johnson in Ida Grove.
His entire life was spent in Ida County except for two years when they lived in Minnesota. He farmed until 1947 when they retired and moved to town.
He was baptized as an infant in the Covenant Church. He attended the Arthur Evangelical Free Church when health permitted.
He passed away 16 August 1968 at the Morningside Manor Home in Ida Grove. He was 83 years, 1 month, and 26 days.
Survivors include his wife, Hulda; one son, Guy of Ida Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Rolla (Gladys) Thrailkill of Arthur and Mrs. Albert (Mae) Wunschel of Ida Grove; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Emil of Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Russell, three sisters, Selma, Ellen and Mabel Carlson, and five brothers, Elmer, Roy, Oscar, Paul and Reuben.
Funeral services were held on Monday, 19 August 1968 at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church. Rev. John Aiken officiated. Interment was in the Hayes Township Cemetery.
