Ellen Mathilda Carlson
21 Nov 1891 - 4 Mar 1935
-------
Ellen Mathilda Carlson, youngest daughter of Mr. C. A. Carlson, now deceased, and Albertina Anderson Carlson, was born in Ida county, Iowa, Nov. 21, 1891. She died at her home March 4, 1935, at the age of 43 years, 3 months and 11 days after several days serious illness with endocarditis.

Her illness started with a throat infection. which turned into quinsy. The poison from the infection entered the circulatory system, this she was unable to overcome. She passed peacefully away at 3 a.m. Monday.

She was the seventh member of the family to pass away. Two boys and one girl died in infancy. One brother, Roy, died Oct. 1927. Her father, C. A. Carlson died April 22,1930 and her sister Selma May 6, 1933.

Ellen lived with her mother and two brothers on the farm three miles south and one mile west of Arthur. This was her birthplace and her home all her life.

She accepted Christ as her Savior March 16, 1915, and followed her Lord in Holy baptism Sept 5, 1915. She became a member of the Arthur Evangelical Free church and there remained a faithful and loved member until death. She served the church faithfully in all its organizations as pianist for 15 years,. She was never late, nor did she miss any services unless absolutely necessary. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and she used it for the Lord. Often was her voice heard as she sang in the mixed quartet, and the ladies trio to the glory of God. She also served as a Sunday School teacher. She was jovial and friendly, truly loved and respected by all. She leaves a vacancy in the home, in the church and in the community that can not be filled.

She leaves to mourn her departure her aged mother, four brothers G. Albert, of Blaine Township, Emil of Hayes Township, Oscarl and Reuben at home. All of Ida county and many other relatives and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Arthur Baptist church (on account of the inability to reach the Free mission church in a locality where the roads are impassible.), conducted by Rev. Faugestrom, assisted by Rev. Erickson of the Arthur Baptist church. Burial was made in the Hayes township Cemetery.
