A Mass of Christian Burial for Vernice Marie Menard Meche, age 91, will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La. Father Albert Nunez will conduct the services.

Mrs. Meche, who was a resident of Washington, La., died at Senior Village Nursing Home on Monday, March 22, 2010, in Opelousas, La.

She belonged to the St. Mary's Altar Society, the St. Agnes Rosary Group and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, La.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Meche Delafosse and husband, Jerry, of Washington, La.; two sisters, Agnes Bourque of Carencro, La. and Jean Richard of Carencro, La. 2 grandchildren, Lisa Delafosse Formeller of Washington, La.; Ronny Delafosse and wife Debbie of Ville Platte, La. and 6 great-grandchildren, Jarred Delafosse, Jamie Delafosse, Logan Delafosse, Lane Delafosse, Taylor Gauthier and Shea Gauthier.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Etienne Meche; her parents, Amilcar and Grazellia Brasseaux Menard; her brothers, Evril Menard, Avie Menard, Eddie Menard, Skurdy Menard, Claude Menard and Merlin Menard and her sisters, Nita Benoit, Lilly Mouton, Verna Thomas and Marie Doucet.

A special thanks to Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas, Hospice Compassus, the doctors and nurses, Father Albert Nunez, her family and her friends.
