Vivian Iona (Dubbs) Pope age 92, formerly of Shelton, NE passed away at Encore Senior Village (an
Alzheimer's facility) in Riverside, CA on Tuesday October 18, 2011. The memorial service will be held at
the United Methodist Church in Shelton followed by burial of the cremains at the Shelton Cemetery in
the spring. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Shelton, NE or the Alzheimer
Foundation of America.

Vivian was born to Marion (Matt) and Alma (Mosser) Dubbs on May 2, 1919 at home Northeast of
Shelton, and at the age of 10 took over most of the household duties when her mother passed away.
Vivian attended District 32 School and graduated from Shelton High School in 1937, she married Harvey
Pope on February 20, 1941 and the couple lived and farmed on the family farm Northwest of Shelton
until moving into Shelton in 1976. Vivian enjoyed the outdoors, particularly her flowers, gardening and
fishing with Harvey. For 17 years they enjoyed their summer camping trips to Canada and other places
in the North until Harvey passed away in 1993, after his death she continued to travel with the Over 55
Club along with her cousin Colleen Snyder. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and made many
beautiful quilts. Vivian was a very active member of Shelton United Methodist Church until moving to
California in 2008, she belonged to the Bluff Center Club for over 50 years, the Rebekah Lodge for 25
years, the Neighborhood Club, United Methodist Women and the Shelton Historical Interpretive Center.

Survivors include, one daughter Nancy and son-in-law Phil Burbach of Norco, CA; a grandson, Timothy,
his wife Christina and their daughter Coraline of Irmo, SC; a granddaughter, Leah, her husband Chris
Donaldson and their daughter Ella of Pflugerville, TX.; and one sister, Waunda Wicht of Gibbon. She was
preceded in death by her husband Harvey, her parents, two brothers – Benton and Charles and six
sisters – Mary, Neva, Evelyn, Luettta, Vera, and Charlotte.
