Fern (Christensen) Savory, age 94, of the Walnut Manor Nursing Home in Walnut, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Walnut Manor.
Fern was born on January 18, 1909 in Bureau Township, the daughter of Elmer and Nellie Albus. She was united in marriage to E. J. Christensen on January 8, 1927 in Walnut, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1973. On April 5, 1975 she married Roger Savory in Florida. He preceded her in death. She was a bookkeeper in the family business and other area businesses for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Walnut.
She is survived by one son, Donald (Nancy) Christensen of Walnut, Illinois; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Krieger of Ohio, Illinois; one half-brother, Buster Albus of Rock Falls, Illinois; one half-sister, Edith Gowan of Rock Falls, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and two sons, Leo and Dick.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with Pearle Lange officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial of cremains will be in Walnut Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Walnut Manor Nursing Home.
