In Washington County, the year 1867 recorded the marriage of Mr. Rufus King Felder to Miss Margaret Eliza Matthews, born May 14, 1847, a daughter of Rev. Jacob Matthews, who came from Mississippi to Texas in an early day and who was long an influential and revered member of the clergy of the Medodist Episopal Church, South, in the Lone Star state. Mrs. Felder died in 1884, and concerning the surviving children the following record is given: John M. married Miss Mattie Yarborough and they reside at Aransas Pass, San Patricio County; E. King and his wife, whose maiden name was Mattie Cocke, reside at Chapel Hill; Charles B, who wedded Miss Maude Warbington, is engaged in the practice of law at Wichita Falls, the Judicial center of Wichita County, this state; Thomas and his wife, whose maiden name was Georgia Hawkins, are residents of Giddings, Lee County; Dr. William H. is a dentist by profession and is engaged in successful practice at Wichita Falls; and Miss Margaret remains at the paternal home.
